Account and Data Deletion in the Sito App

How to delete your account and the data tied to it, what gets deleted along the way and what may be kept.

This page describes how to delete your account and the data associated with it in the Sito app, as well as which data is deleted in the process, which data may be retained, and for how long. The developer of the App and the data operator is Alexander Sergeevich Seednov. Data processing is described in detail in the Privacy Policy: https://sito.alexforge.org/en/legal/privacy/

This page is a courtesy translation. In case of any discrepancy between the English and Russian versions, the Russian version available at https://sito.alexforge.org/legal/data-deletion/ prevails.

1. How to Delete Your Account in the App

1. Open the Sito app.

2. Open "Settings" and go to "Account".

3. Tap "Delete the account" and confirm the action with the "Delete" button.

Deletion is performed immediately and is irreversible. The Account and its copy of the Diary on the server are erased; section 3 lists exactly what is deleted. Deleting the Account requires a network connection: the App has to tell the server about the deletion.

2. How to Request Deletion Without Access to the App

If the App has already been removed from the device or you no longer have access to it, send a deletion request to sito@alexforge.org from the email address used to sign in to your account. The request is processed within 30 days at most; you will receive a reply with the result.

3. What Data Is Deleted

When the Account is deleted, the following is permanently deleted on the server:

  • your email address and the service details of the Account (identifier, creation date, interface language, session key);
  • your whole Diary: the meal Entries with their times, the day ratings with their times and notes, including the marks of deleted Entries.

On the device, the Diary is kept in that case — as a local one, without an Account — together with the appearance settings (language, theme) and a random service identifier of the device. They are never transferred to the server and are deleted together with the App (section 5).

4. What Data May Be Retained and for How Long

  • Server logs (IP address and technical details of requests) — for a limited period needed for security and diagnostics, after which they are deleted.
  • Individual records — only if their retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes; once the applicable period expires, they are deleted or anonymized.
  • Depersonalized usage statistics (Yandex AppMetrica) — contain neither the email address nor the texts of the Diary nor the day ratings; stored in accordance with the terms of the service.

5. Deleting Data Without Deleting the Account

  • Signing out of the Account: "Settings" → "Account" → "Sign out" — unsynchronized edits go to the server (a network connection is needed), synchronization on this device stops, and the Diary on it is kept as a local one. The Account and its Diary on the server are kept, and signing in with the same address resumes synchronization.
  • An individual Entry can be deleted at any time: open it, tap the delete icon and confirm. The Entry stops being shown, is left out of the insights and does not go into the export; its text is erased, while the deletion mark is passed on to your other devices during synchronization and is erased together with the Account. A day rating and its note can be changed at any time.
  • Removing the App from the device erases all of its local storage: the Diary, including one left local after the Account was deleted, and the settings. It is the only way to erase the Diary from the device entirely.

An Account is not required: without signing in, the App is fully functional, and all data remains only on the device.
